The chief executive of Swindon Borough Council has announced that she plans to step down from her role this summer after five years in charge.
Susie Kemp, who is also the borough's electoral returning officer, was appointed to the local authority’s top job in July 2018 from her role as Corporate Director of Resources and Transformation.
She said: “It is an absolute privilege to contribute to the council’s enduring public service mission: providing services that improve lives, keep people safe and strengthen Swindon’s communities.
“I work with amazing colleagues who I know will continue to do a fantastic job for Swindon and its residents.
“This was not an easy decision to take, but I will work with the leader of council after the May elections to help the organisation make a seamless transition to the appointment of a new CEO following a successful recruitment process.”
Council leader Cllr David Renard said: “I want to thank Susie for her tireless dedication to serving the residents of Swindon, improving the performance of the council and ensuring we delivered many projects and services around the borough.
“I am sorry that she has decided it is time to step down and I wish her every success for the future.”
