Help for smokers wanting to stop is being highlighted by Swindon Borough Council.

In Swindon, 9.7 per cent of adults still smoke, and their habit affects their health, finances, and social connections.

For those who are pregnant, the risks extend to their babies, making quitting even more crucial.

A council spokesperson said: "That’s why the council’s Swap to Stop scheme is here to help. It provides free vape kits, four weeks of vape liquids and expert support to smokers aged 18 and over, offering a practical and proven way to quit.

"In partnership with Great Western Hospital’s Smoking in Pregnancy team, nearly 50 pregnant people in Swindon have already successfully quit smoking, creating healthier futures for themselves and their children.

"With vaping being 95 per cent less harmful than smoking, now is the time to make a change."
