The Swindon Dementia Action Alliance, a group of local businesses and organisations will hold a week of dementia-related activities to raise awareness within the local community.
The activities will take place from 16 - 20 May, during Dementia Action Week – an annual campaign hosted by the Alzheimer’s Society to raise awareness surrounding living with dementia.
The theme this year is ‘Act on Dementia’.
Hosted by the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance, the activities are helping to further their mission; to make Swindon a Dementia Friendly Community.
The events aim to provide a safe space for people living with dementia and their loved ones, allowing them to meet likeminded people and access the support and resources that they need.
The free activities include:
Dementia Action Week Expo Event: Monday 16 May, 10.30am - 12.30pm, Swindon Central Library
- An opportunity to meet local business and organisations who support people living with dementia, their carers and loved ones, as well as a public dementia friends training session open to all at 11am.
- Expo stands include: Swindon Carers Centre, Home Instead, Alzheimer’s Society, Herbert Protocol and more.
Afternoon Tea with entertainment: Thursday 19 May, 1.30pm - 4pm, MECA Swindon **SOLD OUT**
- An afternoon of live entertainment alongside lots of tea, coffee and cake!
