The team at Swindon SEND Families Voice - a parent carer forum supporting families with SEND children in the local area - are celebrating five years in operation.
Swindon SEND Families Voice (SSFV) were set up back in 2018, in order to support local families who have children and young people with any kind of Special Education Needs or Disabilities (SEND).
The SSFV team celebrated their five-year milestone by sharing cake with parents and carers at their support group, Branches.
Since 2018, the team say they have listened to parents and carers and worked closely with Swindon Borough Council and local health services with the aim of improving services available to families with SEND children.
In addition, last year, SSFV were the recipients of a Pride of Swindon Award.
The non-profit provide a range of services, including a lending library for children with additional needs, regular 'Stay & Play' sessions for under 5-year-olds, a phone service for parents who need to talk, as well an online support group on Facebook called 'The SEND Room'. This Facebook group has over 1,700 local parents offering support to one another.
Acting Chair Nausheen Ali said: "Swindon SEND Families Voice has turned five! I’m so proud of our wonderful team and all that we have achieved. All the hard work we put in goes to show how passionate our team is about supporting the many families who have children and young people with SEND in Swindon."
