Swindon’s Bus Company has welcomed Swindon Borough Council’s announcement that the £33 million transport hub is to open at the end of next month.

Many of the bus operator’s services will pass through the new development - bringing significant improvements and developments to passengers travelling in-and-around the town.

Surrounded by 181 newly-planted trees and 23,000 plants and bushes, those using the hub will enjoy larger bus shelters, wireless charging, solar panels and digital screens relaying departure times.

Swindon’s Bus Company general manager Andrew Sherrington, said: “We’re thrilled to have witnessed the incredible transformation of Fleming Way, which is set to become one of the major transport hubs within our region.

“Not only will it greatly enhance the efficiency of our bus services here, it will provide pleasant surroundings for those using the hub - from the improved bus shelters to the array of trees and shrubs, to the real time departure information.

“We are proud to have worked closely with Swindon Borough Council on this major project, and we are looking forward to welcoming people on-board from our new and very much improved bus hub next month.”

The multi-million pound Fleming Way project will open to the public on Sunday 31 August. It has been funded by a £25m grant from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund, as well as £5m from Swindon Borough Council and £3m from the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund.
