The winners of the first ever Tadpole Garden Village Scarecrow Trail have been crowned.

Around 30 superhero-themed scarecrows, designed by pupils from Tadpole Farm Academy, were put up around the development for the week-long festival, which was sponsored by housebuilder Bellway.

Those who took part in the trail were invited to vote for their favourite scarecrow, and the results were announced at a prizegiving ceremony at the academy in Tadpole Garden Village, Swindon.

Supertato, designed by the Famous Five, took first place, with Lego Superman by The Barass Clan in second and Super Bunnie by the Dust Bunnie staff in third.

The trail was organised by the academy’s PTA to help bring residents on the thriving new development and the wider Swindon community closer together.

Laura Firth, from the friends of Tadpole Farm Academy, said: “This was our first ever scarecrow trail, and we are delighted with the response we have had from local residents.

“We wanted to hold a family friendly event for the whole community to be involved in, and we hope that people enjoyed taking part in the trail.

“We were really impressed by the scarecrows which were created by children, residents, families and business, and it was lovely to present the winners with their prizes.

“The scarecrow trail has enabled us to raise vital funds for future school projects and we are grateful to Bellway for their support.”

Bellway, which is building at its Tadpole Rise development off William Morris Way, donated £500 towards the event.

Christel Hawkins, Sales Manager at Bellway South West, said: “Having worked closely with the academy on a number of previous projects, we were delighted to support them once again by sponsoring their scarecrow trail.

“The trail was a wonderful event which helped to bring the community together, and it was great to see so many residents come out to support it.”

There is a range of four-bedroom homes currently available to buy at Bellway’s Tadpole Rise development, with prices starting from £319,995.
