The UK’s largest water company, Thames Water, which services Swindon, has revealed what goes on behind the scenes in a two-part observational documentary.

Thames Water: Inside the Crisis, follows some of the 8000 Thames Water employees as they navigate the financial position of the business, work to improve company performance and reveal the day to day challenges when working on the front line and in the public eye.

A spokesperson said “The programmes show a very honest illustration of the challenges our people and the company faces at all levels.

“In addition it highlights the huge impact the weather and sewer abuse has on the waste network, alongside efforts to help minimise pollutions and improve river health. It also shows the work done by management teams to turn around the business.”

With increased attention on river health, the episodes aim to educate the public on the complexity of ensuring that rivers are clean while ensuring the company delivers reliable waste water services to its 16 million customers. It also demonstrates the dangers of sewer abuse as part of Thames Water’s “bin it don’t block it” campaign.

Thames Water reminds members of the public the only items which should be flushed down the loo are the three P’s: Pee, poo and toilet paper.

Thames Water: Inside the Crisis will air on BBC 2 on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 March. Episodes will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
