The non-profit organisation set up to support refugees and asylum seekers in Swindon is asking for unlocked smartphone donations.

Staff from The Harbour Project are asking members of the public for their old smartphones.

Individuals can help the non-profit organisation's visitors by supplying them with smartphones that are set back to factory settings, that are unlocked, and that have a charger and lead.

A spokesperson for The Harbour Project said: "In this day and age, a smart phone is a necessity, especially so for our visitors, whose phones are the only way of means to contacting family, legal services, doctors and other support services like us, as well as being able to access emails and send and receive important documentation to various agencies."

The team are also hoping to make connections with companies that provide mobile phones for their employees.

Those that can help, or those that have a smart phone available to donate are being asked to email [email protected]
