Swindon Borough Council has issued a reminder that businesses will be banned from selling, supplying or possessing single-use vapes from 1 June 2025.
The new law includes non-nicotine versions and will apply to all retailers, including high street and online.
A council spokesperson said in a message to the public: "From this date, any vapes legally on sale in Britain must be rechargeable, refillable and have a coil that can be easily replaced.
"Any vape which does not meet these standards, for example a vape that is rechargeable but not refillable, will be illegal.
"While the ban applies to businesses, residents will no longer be able to legally buy single-use vapes from any UK store or website after 1 June.
"If you currently use single-use vapes, now is a good time to think about switching to a reusable device or exploring other support to stop smoking altogether."
The council is also highlighting its Swap to Stop scheme for people wishing to give up tobacco.
Swap to Stop is open to all who smoke tobacco, who live, work, or have a GP in Swindon, are aged over 18 and who have not already received a free vape kit through the scheme.
To apply, people can email [email protected], and the spokesperson added: "You’ll get a free vape kit, a supply of e-liquids, and four weeks of support from a local Stop Smoking Health Coach to help you move away from tobacco."
