Swindon Borough Council is inviting people to make a positive difference in 2025.

Whether a person wants to make a new friend, support a neighbour or simply give back to their community, there are many volunteering opportunities across the borough.

Among Swindon's stalwart volunteers is Roger, pictured, who gives time and dedication to Swindon Carers Centre.

He is the friendly face behind the Carers Cuppas and Walk & Talk events, bringing joy to adult and older carers.

Roger said: “My links with Swindon Carers Centre go back a few years to when I was a registered carer for my late wife and soulmate Jenny. Being a carer was my most fulfilling role and Swindon Carers Centre was a godsend.

“After my period of bereaved care came to an end, I asked if I could become a volunteer and I’ve been doing so since 2022.

“As a volunteer, I work with lovely and very hard-working people. It’s very rewarding to be part of the team helping carers to enjoy themselves while they have time away from their caring role.”

Anybody who can spare a couple of hours, days or weeks, is welcome to email [email protected] to find out which volunteering opportunities are available. They can also find out about Swindon Carers Centre at https://www.swindoncarers.org.uk/
