Wiltshire Police have thanked the public for supporting its ‘Wanted this Winter’ campaign.

The December campaign saw 22 outstanding suspects successfully dealt with, saving hours of officers' time.

Many suspects were arrested after their information was shared with members of the public, with a handful handing themselves in after seeing the appeal on social media.

Ch Supt Phil Staynings said: "The Wanted this Winter campaign has been a great success for the force with 22 suspects successfully dealt with.

“It has once again proven the power the public and social media has to support operational policing and solve crimes. By working together with the public we can make Wiltshire and Swindon a safer place for all.

"The annual campaign highlights persistent offenders who are wanted for a variety of crimes, from driving offences to burglary, which blight our communities.

"We recognise that those featured in the campaign may feel uncomfortable with the publicity and we would encourage them to contact us at the first opportunity to help officers with their enquiries.

“We would like to thank everyone who engaged with the campaign by either sharing our appeals or by passing us information on the whereabouts of wanted individuals. It’s made a real difference."

There are still 20 outstanding suspects from the campaign that the police are keen to speak to.

The full list of these suspects can be found by searching for 'Wanted this Winter' at www.wiltshire.police.uk

People with information about any of those still wanted are asked to call the police on 101 or, should they wish to remain anonymous Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
