Swindon Borough Council has announced that more than than £880,000 has been made available to help improve the energy efficiency of council homes.

This follows the council’s successful application to the third wave of the government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund.
The move also sits alongside the £250m investment plan to raise the standard of council housing for families across Swindon over the next five years.
More details about which properties will benefit from this grant, and when the work will take place and what will be included, will be shared in the coming months.
Clr Janine Howarth, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said: “It’s important we do what we can to make sure our homes are as energy efficient as possible for our tenants as part of our work to build both a better, and greener, Swindon.
“We’re already improving hundreds of houses across the borough, including at Park South, and this additional funding will help us expand that work.
“As well as improving the energy efficiency of these properties, the work will also help our tenants keep a warmer home, meaning they will spend less on heating their properties.”
