NHS bosses have issued football-themed call for people to make sure they get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning said in a statement: "Football’s coming home, so get vaccinated to stop covid-19 from doing the same."
Swindon's Great Western Hospital and Steam, along with the Spencer Sport and Social Club in Melksham, each have a large number of bookable appointment slots over the next few days for those needing the Pfizer vaccine.
Director of Nursing and Quality Gill May said: "Just like Gareth Southgate and the England team are on track to bring football home on Sunday night, we’re also on track to achieving our goal of offering all adults in our region their first vaccine by Monday, 19 July.
“To get us over the line, and to ensure that as many people as possible are vaccinated before social distancing measures are lifted, we are calling on any people who have yet to arrange their appointment to not delay in coming forward.
“We have vaccination sites spread out all across our region, with some having extremely good appointment availability over the next few days, meaning that people who book today could have their jab before England play again on Sunday night.
“With the country quite rightly in a celebratory mood, now is not the time to be complacent about Covid-19, but the absolute right time to get protected.”
The coronavirus vaccine is currently open to all people aged over the age of 18, as well as to those aged 16 and over with an underlying health condition.
Those who have had an initial vaccination are reminded to get the second dose, which is available eight weeks after the date of the first.
