Work is continuing on the new 600-metre stretch of the Wilts & Berks Canal at Wichelstowe.
The work by Swindon Borough Council follows the recent installation of Bushey Fox Bridge, and accordin to reports from the site the excavation and shaping of the channel is progressing well.
A council spokesperson said the work was part of the creation of a feature that would one day support boating, walking, cycling and wildlife, while becoming a defining part of the Wichelstowe community.
The spokesperson added: "More than £5m is being invested in the canal and bridge project through the partnership between the Council and Barratt Developments, helping to bring to life the long-term vision for one of the South West’s largest new communities."
