Swindon Borough Council have been showing support for World Bee Day (20 May) through raising awareness and sharing tips to look after the beloved insects.
Today - 20 May - on World Bee Day, Swindon Borough Council say they wish to acknowledge the important role bees play in the health of the planet.
The council have listed three simple tips that members of the public can use to help look after the bees in their own gardens.
The advice is as follows:
- Gives bees shelter by letting grass grow
- Leaving a small dish with a few pebbles and shallow water in can help if a bee is thirsty
- Plant a mix of bee-friendly seeds. This could take the form of both plants, and fruit and vegetable seeds
