A statue of Old Father Thames now looks over the river at Ashton Keynes, after the stump of a 50-year-old tree was carved into the personification of the great waterway.

The carving sits in the garden of Suus and Sam Paris, at 9 The Grove, and until recently the two-storey stone cottage was completely dwarfed by the yew tree.

Internationally-renowned woodcarvers Harry and Danny Thomas, of Powys-based Thomas Carvings, undertook the work, and the statue was unveiled on Father’s Day.
