Following officers' recommendations, Swindon's planning committee have granted permission for planing at Haydon End.
The open space is located to the north of Haydon Farm, a grade II listed building.
Haydon Wick Parish Council went against the proposal.
The applicant, Ms A Clifford, who is represented by the agent Ian Sullivan Architectural Design, has submitted the outline proposal of ten new properties on the site. This also includes a conversion at the rear of the historic barn, with plans to preserve the character of the building.
Residents at the meeting raised concerns over work vehicles accessing the site via the narrow and residential roads, which led to unease over the flow of traffic if the site was to be erected.
Another resident made it clear that the community are not against planning on the site, but do not believe this particular application is suitable for the area of land.
Should permission for the development be given the go-ahead, Ms A Clifford will have three years from the date of consent to complete the build.
