Sam’s the Swindon Wildcats iceman in the community. Meet him at Bank Holiday meet the players BBQ

Swindon Wildcats ice hockey club have appointed Sam Bullas as their community development officer responsible for delivering the Wildcats in the Community programme on a local and regional level.

The popular forward is well qualified for the role as he has a foundation degree in sports coaching and a first class BSc in sport studies. He is also currently in the process of completing a Masters in sports coaching science.

On the practical side Sam is ideally suited, having had work experience in primary and secondary schools, coached teen hockey camps in Canada over three summers and also at numerous Okanagan Ice Hockey Camps in Britain over the last four years.

Wildcats general manager Steve Nell said: “Putting Sam’s experience alongside his hockey playing career at Nottingham and Swindon ensures the Wildcats in the Community programme will be in good hands moving forward.

"It is great to have someone of Sam's calibre already within the organisation and I’m very happy he has taken the position. It is an important time for the programme as it moves to charity status; he is perfectly suited to help us do that and continue to grow our involvement in the community."

Sam himself is looking forward to the challenge: "I was really pleased to be offered the job. As a Cats player I already know how important the community programme is. It introduces future Wildcats to the game through Kids Go Free games and Learn to Play sessions as well as promoting sport and healthy lifestyles in general."
