Great Western Hospital’s emergency team will feature in tonight's episode of 999: What’s Your Emergency?

This new series focuses on services based in Swindon and Trowbridge - giving viewers an intimate look at how the medical services work in partnership with police, paramedics and fire service.

Annette Baskerville, Clinical Matron for the Emergency Department, said: “We really enjoyed taking part in the show and hope this gives local people a real insight into the work we do every day.”

Tonight’s episode examines the rise of racially-aggravated hate crimes in Wiltshire, with a future episode looking at the rise of hard drugs on the streets, following the story of a drug user whose life is saved by emergency staff.

Other issues to feature in the series include the increase in mental health issues among young men.

999: What's Your Emergency? is on Channel 4 tonight at 9pm.
