The Shoebox Theatre will open its doors to young performers aged 4-14 on Saturday 25th January to offer free taster workshops in drama.

“We have now been in our current venue at the Health Hydro for a year and can’t wait to welcome more young people into our studio space! Over the last 12 months we have aimed to create a welcoming space for students and parents alike and, as well as a professional theatre space, we now also have a cosy lounge for parents to have a cuppa while they wait!” said Hannah Marquez, producer at the Shoebox Theatre.

The Shoebox's weekly offering for young people has grown over the last year and now includes fun and confidence-building drama workshops for ages 4-10 and more advanced classes for ages 11-14. The free sessions will give students and parents the opportunity to meet the Shoebox team and to find out more about classes, as well as giving students the opportunity to take part in a drama workshop for their age group.

The Shoebox Theatre has a track record for nurturing the careers of young actors and over the last couple of years have seen students successfully audition for Drama Schools including East 15, The Central School of Speech and Drama, Rose Bruford and Fourth Monkey, as well as universities.

Managed by Wrong Shoes Theatre Company, the Shoebox is a 50-seat studio theatre located within the Health Hydro on Milton Road. It produces and programmes professional theatre and provides training opportunities for young people aged 4+ and adults. Award winning actress, Billie Piper became the Patron of the Shoebox, when it officially launched in February 2017.
