Monthly column with Becky Cox of Swindon Cycle Campaign
Fancy getting back on two wheels this autumn? Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to cycling after a break, there are fantastic free cycling opportunities at Moredon Sporting Hub.
Sessions are funded by Cycling UK’s Big Bike Revival and Swindon Travel Choices, andare designed to help more adults gain confidence and skills in the saddle.
Sessions take place every Tuesday lunchtime, between 12 noon–1pm, at Moredon Sporting Hub, Cheney Manor Industrial Estate, Swindon, SN2 2QJ. They are led by experienced cycling coach Becky Cox, alongside friendly and supportive volunteers.
Never learned to ride? Haven’t been on a bike for years? Or perhaps you can ride but would like to build your confidence? These relaxed sessions are suitable for novice and new cyclists.
Enjoy riding around the 1.2km closed-road cycle track, while developing your balance, bike-handling skills and confidence in a safe, traffic-free environment. Bikes and helmets are included, so all you need is comfortable clothing and trainers.
Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended. Book your place via the Swindon Cycle Campaign Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/swindon-cycle-campaign-61575400583
Inclusive Cycling for Everyone
There’s another exciting opportunity at Moredon this autumn. Thanks to funding from the Openwork Foundation, Moredon Sporting Hub is offering free taster sessions for disabled people to try out Limitless inclusive cycling.
These sessions are aimed at children with additional needs, disabled adults, and their families and support networks.
Using adapted cycles, including wheelchair trikes and handcycles, the project aims to make cycling accessible to more people. The team can also help people of any age learn to ride a bike or trike.
Free taster sessions are also available for charities, community groups and schools.
For questions about the cycling sessions, or to book a free inclusive cycling taster session, contact Cycling Development Officer Becky Cox at [email protected] or 07619 08615.
Whether it’s your first pedal stroke or a return to cycling, autumn is a great time to get back in the saddle!
