Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that young British defenceman Ben Nethersell has signed a contract extension which will see him remain in Swindon for the 19/20 NIHL season.

Ben, a product of the Swindon-based Okanagan Hockey Academy programme and has iced for the Wildcats for three years in a row. He competed in 50 games for the club last year, contributing 6 points along the way.

He joins Tyler Plews, Neil Liddiard, Stevie Whitfield and Sam Godfrey on the blue-line for the forthcoming campaign and Head Coach Aaron Nell is pleased to have Ben’s services to call upon for another season.

It’s great to have Ben back in Swindon for another season. For someone so young he plays with lots of maturity and is very good with the puck. He adds something different when he hits the ice and he has, and he has a good offensive brain to go with it.

I can’t wait to welcome him back in September and hopefully it will be a really good year for him and the team.

Similarly, Ben himself was thrilled to have penned an extension to his time at the Better Link Centre.

I’m obviously really pleased to be playing in Swindon again next year.

I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather play. We have a great core of players and some good new additions already, especially Tomasz Malasinski, who I can’t wait to play with again.

The fans make it so enjoyable to play at home and I can’t wait to continue building on the great team we have and hopefully win some more silverware!

If you’re interested in sponsoring Ben, or any of our other players, please email [email protected] or phone 01793 781549.
