Swindon Police are reminding football fans to support Town from home during tonight's - 9 March - Oxford United match at the County Ground.

Due to current covid restrictions, the match, like all League One fixtures so far this season, will be played behind closed doors with no fans permitted entry.
Extra patrols will be carried out to ensure that the Government guidelines are being adhered to and people are not gathering in the vicinity of the stadium, which is not permitted.

The club and the force are united calling on fans to support their team from home.

Supt Phil Staynings said: “A great deal of work has been undertaken by the clubs and English Football League to keep everyone safe while football is still able to entertain fans watching at home.

“We understand that this is a game that supporters look forward to but we all need to remember that we are currently still in lockdown and the stay at home message remains the same.

“We will work with the football club to ensure that everyone is kept safe and know the majority of fans will stay home, but we urge those thinking about heading to the stadium to not ruin the hard work that has been put in by so many to date when we are so close to a point where fans will soon be allowed back into stadiums.”
