Showcase cricket fixture to be hosted in Swindon

Swindon Cricket Club has announced that it will host the National County Cricket Association Showcase fixture between Wiltshire and professional side Glamorgan CC.

It will be held on Sunday 21 July and, the club says, represents a fantastic opportunity for cricket lovers to see a first-class professional team play on their doorstep at no charge.

All cricket fans are invited to come along for what is promised to be a day of top-quality cricket at the club, which is in County Road.

Entrance will be from 9am with the match starting at 11am,  scheduled interval from 2.30-3pm and the second innings starting at 3pm.

The NCCA Showcase games are an initiative that started in 2021, and are an opportunity for the National Counties to test themselves against the best players in the country. 

On being awarded the fixture, Wiltshire Cricket said: "A return of National Counties standard Cricket to Swindon CC is just reward for the fantastic work that the club has done in recent years, and for the way in which Swindon CC have supported Wiltshire Cricket more broadly.

" With regards junior cricket the club has become one of the leading providers of players for the Wiltshire Talent Pathway. 

"The club has also supported broader initiatives such as hosting All Stars and Dynamos camps, hosting multiple primary school competitions, hosting school SEND competitions, and hosting our weekly Lord's Taverner Super 1s hubs during the summer.”

Hot food will be available to purchase throughout the day from the club's catering partner, Goody’s Bakery, and hot and cold drinks will also be available all day. 

Alcoholic drinks will be available from from the licensed bar from noon, and the club asks that no alcohol or glass is brought into the ground.

Players and guests can park within the ground, and public parking is available next door at the County Ground Car Park.

Some bench seating will be available, but people are welcome to bring their own camping chairs and blankets.
