Longstanding Swindon business Deacons Jewellers has presented Swindon Cricket Club with a new pavilion clock.
This marks the second generation of Deacons’ clock sponsorship, and the club is looking forward to another successful year working with them.
Randy Roze, President of Swindon Cricket Club and Richard Deacon, Managing Director of Deacons, founded in 1848, were pictured with the new clock.
Mr Deacon said: “We are delighted to continue our long-standing support of Swindon Cricket Club.
"It is fantastic to see the club thriving and attracting so many young people to its coaching sessions.
"The pavilion is an iconic building in Swindon and after many years the old clock originally supplied by my father, Michael Deacon, was in need of replacement.
"The new clock not only looks superb but will also provide reliable service for many years to come.”
Mr Roze said: “I first met Richard’s father, Michael Deacon, when I played my first match for the club as a youngster in 1962. It is wonderful to see the family still so actively involved today.”
This year, the club says, promises to be an exciting one.
Mr Roze added: “In addition to fielding teams in regional league cricket and aiming to build on last year’s results, we are proud to be hosting professional and international fixtures at the County Ground this season.
"Wiltshire face Glamorgan here in May alongside an England Over-40s versus India Over-40s match.
"In June, Gloucestershire will take on Hampshire in a warm-up game ahead of the 2026 T20 Blast.
"It’s set to be a fantastic year for cricket in Swindon and we look forward to welcoming spectators to the County Ground.”
