Swindon Town – Team on a Mission

Swindon Town are flying high in this term of League Two. An amazing streak of six successive wins saw them climb up to the very top of the standings. They are three points clear off the second-placed Exeter City and five above Cheltenham Town in fourth. We have asked the experts at Betting Tips 4 You to review their season and give their prediction.

The Robins are the main favourites to win the division

Richard Wellens took charge of the Robins just more than a year ago and he seems to be ready to guide the team towards the third tier of English football. Swindon were dropped down to League Two at the end of the 2016/17 campaign and have not had much success trying to get back to the higher division in the last couple of years.

Nevertheless, it appears the 2019/20 is their season. They are huge favourites to earn the promotion (1/3 currently with most bookies) thanks to the red-hot spell of form that saw them win six successive league affairs.

Swindon have the best attacking record in the division

Wellens has strong firepower on display in his ranks, at least for this level. Eoin Doyle and Jerry Yates make the competition’s most lethal attacking duo. They hold the top two positions in the division’s goal-scoring charts. Doyle has been particularly impressive so far in the season. He scored 17 goals in 18 appearances this term and has no intention of slowing down any time soon. The Irish forward opened the scoring in the team's most recent victory, 0-3 at Grimsby Town. His partner in crime, Yates, notched the two remaining goals on the occasion. The Robins boast the best attacking record in League Two having notched 35 goals in 20 outings. They bagged at least two goals in four of the last five league fixtures.

 Next up – Oldham Athletic

Swindon will have a great opportunity to keep their superb thread going on Saturday, December 14th, when they play host to bottom-half strugglers Oldham Athletic at The County Ground. It should be a one-way street all the way from the start. The Latics are unbeaten in five subsequent games in the league, but they have generally been struggling a lot to find the right form on travels thus far in the season. They won only two and lost four of nine away clashes this term and have a negative 8-16 goal difference in the process.

Oldham concede almost two goals on average away from home and we can’t be quite optimistic regarding their chances of keeping things tight at the back when coming face to face with the deadliest attacking duo in the division. They’ve conceded six goals to Mansfield Town and five to Fleetwood Town in the recent months.

Bets to pay attention to

Swindon are well worth backing to beat Oldham Athletic on Saturday at the 13/20 odds. They won six on the spin in the league and head into the game on the back of the 0-3 thumping of Grimsby Town. Eoin Doyle notched 18 goals in 17 appearances and was on the scoreline in each of the last eight games for Swindon Town in League Two. He is 4/5 to score anytime past the vulnerable defence of the Latics’ on Saturday.

In terms of long-term bets, we fancy Swindon to win the league at the 9/5 odds.
