Swindon Pickleball is set to welcome new players this weekend as the club hosts a free taster session at Delta Tennis Centre in West Swindon.
Taking place on Sunday December 7 from 10am until noon, the event is open to all and aims to give people a chance to try the UK’s fastest-growing sport in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis, and has seen a surge in popularity across the UK in recent years.
There is no need to register in advance for the Sunday session, and participants are encouraged simply to arrive on the day, collect a paddle, and step on to the court.
All necessary equipment will be provided, and English Pickleball-qualified leaders will be available throughout the morning to introduce beginners to the basic skills and rules of the game.
The taster sessions, the club says, play an important role in ensuring pickleball remains accessible to the wider community, particularly as demand for court time in Swindon continues to rise.
Shaun from Swindon Pickleball said: “The club is incredibly grateful to Delta Tennis Centre for allowing us to host this taster session.
"Our Monday socials have now reached full capacity, filling 12 courts with around 60 players each week, so we will be looking to expand further in the New Year.
"This session offers a fantastic opportunity for new players to get involved and experience the excitement surrounding pickleball in Swindon.”
With interest growing across the town, the club hopes the taster session will attract residents keen to explore a new sport, meet others and become part of a thriving local community.
