Rugby League club Swindon St George have announced a groundbreaking long-term partnership with Rugby Union club Swindon RFC.
St George chairman Warren Huggins is delighted with the move, and said: "We are moving our entire operation to Greenbridge Road for 2024 and beyond.
"This is shaping up to be the biggest year in our club’s existence and we must thank Swindon RFC for their hospitality and their willingness to co-operate with our development plans.
"We are determined to make this partnership work for both parties."
In addition to the relocation, St George have also agreed a long-term sponsorship agreement with Power Wash Contractors Ltd. The exterior cleaning specialists, based in Cheney Manor, are backing the club as main sponsor for the open age men’s team, as well as their thriving junior section.
Excitement and optimism are high at Swindon St George with the news that the men’s side will this season be competing in the Midlands Premier League, facing the likes Birmingham, Coventry and Nottingham, plus old rivals Oxford.
The club says it is a very high standard of RL to aspire to, but is confident that with the right facilities and club structure in place, which the Swindon RFC tie-up helps to give them, there is no reason as to why they cannot successfully compete at this high level.
In addition, St George will be fielding a women’s side, a wheelchair team and a Masters RL section, along with an extensive junior operation featuring boys as well as girls.
