The club will be holding a 'Golden Jubilee Rugby Fest' to celebrate its 50 years of existence.
Wootton Bassett Rugby Club's 2021 season marks the club's 50th anniversary, having been formed in 1971 by the original thirteen 'Founding Fathers' of Wootton Bassett RFC.
The club came into being on the 21 December 1971 at a meeting held at The Curriers Arms in Wootton Bassett.
The rugby club are planning a season of special events to celebrate the anniversary.
On Saturday 11 September to kick-off the club's Golden Jubilee season, there will be two exciting rugby matches, live music, a festival-style BBQ, and a Cider & Craft Beer marquee. More details about the event can be found at

The day will include the 'McCue Cup', a celebratory rugby match to honour Lance Corporal James McCue and the respect shown by the town throughout the repatriations.
The McCue family will be in attendance to present the trophy to the winning team at 2.30pm. The match is played every year but the 2020 match has been delayed due to covid.
The Royal Wootton Bassett RFC Second XV will take the field against '8 Training Battalion REME' at 1pm. The cup was previously won by REME in 2018 and by Bassett in 2019.
