Swindon Croquet Club wins back to back promotions at opening tournament for 2023 season

Swindon Croquet Club have kicked off this year's croquet season by winning back to back promotions in a short tournament held at Nailsea.

Held at Nailsea Croquet Club, this opening tournament saw most clubs from the South West and South Wales compete.  

The competition is split into five divisions.

In 2022, Swindon Croquet Club (SCC) were champions of Division 3 and were therfore promoted.

This year, the local team went one better, topping Division 2. SCC earned back to back promotions, having won 12 of their 16 matches. The team say maybe next year they will emerge as overall champions.

Captain Tony Mayer said: "It was a great team effort with everyone contributing to our success. Very well done to the SCC team."
