Swindon St George Rugby League FC’s ‘Trundle for Troll’ kicks off this Saturday - 7 May - with an amateur boxing night, staged as a fundraiser for club stalwart Richard ‘Troll’ White.

The big show takes place at Swindon's Meca, and tickets are still available, and can be obtained along with further details by contacting the club at [email protected].

The former chairman is currently recovering from major cancer surgery, having suffered severe ependymoma. The Swindon St George team say that with a young family to support, he is going through an especially difficult time right now.

'Troll' himself is quick to recognise the efforts of his clubmates.

He said: "These boys doing all this for me and my family is so heart-warming. I just cannot thank everyone at SSG enough for all the hard work and love that has gone into making events like this happen.

"This is going to be one very special night for me, my family and our club."

Topping the bill of the boxing event are current St George player Swanny Davis and Taylor Hicks, who will be facing off against one another. The event will also see a full undercard planned, featuring more of Swindon Rugby League’s finest.

A fundraising page has also been set up for anyone wishing to help support the White family through this difficult period. The page can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/trundlefortroll
