After joining from Edinburgh in the summer of 2018, the Wildcats are delighted to confirm that Tyler Plews will be returning to Swindon for the new National League Season beginning in September.

His first season in Swindon was a successful one as the team won the NIHL S1 league title and Tyler himself won the Most Improved Player trophy at the end of season awards night back in March.

Having iced in 52 games over the course of the season Tyler swiftly became a fans favourite at the Better Link Centre, for his battling on ice performances as well as helping support the team in sponsor and community events throughout the season.

After renewing his deal, Tyler said: ‘I am absolutely over the moon to be back in Swindon for another year. It was a no-brainer for me to come back when Aaron offered me the opportunity too. I know I have just gone back to Scotland, but I cannot wait to be back in Swindon this August, see all the boys again and prepare for the new season.

I feel like last year was a successful season, but we know the upcoming campaign will be tough. We need to look to improve on last year and with the calibre of players we have in Swindon we can. The addition of Tomasz will be massive for us and I cannot wait to play in the same team as him. I hope you all have a great summer, and I’ll see you soon!”

The Kirkcaldy based D man, joins Stevie Whitfield in the D corps for the forthcoming season, and Head Coach Aaron Nell was equally pleased to have Tyler back.

“Tyler came down from Edinburgh last year and did superbly for us. He settled into Swindon really well and really took pride in being a Wildcat, which was great to see. The fans got on really well with him and he is a great character to have in the locker-room.

He was my most improved player and he was superb for us especially in the back end of the season. I hope that he can continue with these great performances into 19/20. He plays the body and blocks shots, I think matured a lot on the ice last season and I am thrilled to be able to bring him back for another year in Swindon.

We are also thrilled to confirm that Jim and Sue Power will be sponsoring Tyler again for the 19/20 campaign. It’s great that we have this kind of support for our players and we’d like to thank them for backing Tyler for the new season.
