Stagecoach bus operator has announced that changes are coming to Swindon on services 6 , 8 , 9, 10, 71, 80 and 81 with a new route, service 4 from Tadpole Garden Village to the town centre, which will help in reducing journey times, aiming to make commuting easier.
New service 10 replaces services 8 and 9 between Freshbrook and the town centre and service 6 between Kingsdown and the town centre but with an improved frequency so that customers have a service up to every 10 minutes during the daytime.
Stagecoach will be offering FREE travel for a week on service 4 starting from Monday 7th running to Saturday 12th November to celebrate the new route – So go on and give it a try!
Managing Director Rupert Cox announced the changes commenting “Following a review of services we offer in Swindon and drawing on feedback from our customers we’ve introduced route changes and improved frequencies on our busiest services. We’re particularly pleased to launch the new service 4 from Tadpole Garden Village which will provide a direct link to the town centre, making use of the fantastic bus lanes along the Criklade Road and into Gorse Hill.”
New Service 4
Service 4 will run from from Tadpole Garden Village to the town centre via St Andrew’s Ridge and Criklade Road. Buses will run every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day. Perfect for commuting or a little retail therapy!
Service 6
This service will be replaced by the new service 10.
Service 81
This service will be replaced by new service 10 between Freshbook and the Town centre. For anyone travelling between the town centre, hospital and Chiseldon please use services 80 and 81.
Service 9
Service 9 will see a route change between Old Town and Wroughton with buses operating via Wichelstowe. The frequency has been improved so that buses now run every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day.
Service 10
Service 10 will connect Freshbrook and Kingsdown, calling at Link Centre, Designer Outlet, town centre and Gorse Hill. These buses will run every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday during the day and every 30 minutes on Sundays. There will be a bus every hour during the evening on Mondays to Saturdays.
Service 71
This service will be replaced by the new service 81 and changes to service 9.
Service 80
There are minor changes to the Timetable throughout the day in order to improve punctuality.
Service 81
This new route will operate between the town centre, the hospital, Chiseldon, Thorney Park and Wroughton. Together with service 80 buses will run up to every hour between the town centre, hospital and Chiseldon.
