Swindon Central Library to host Historic England talk on 70th anniversary of heritage protection

2017 marks the 70th anniversary of the first buildings being protected through Listing, and Swindon's Central Library will be commemorating this by hosting an evening with Martin Newman from Historic England on Tuesday 17 January.

As Listing Information Manager at Historic England, Mr Newman will be discussing the history of protecting our most important heritage sites and buildings, with examples drawn from Swindon's 659 Listed Buildings 53 Scheduled Monuments and three Registered Parks and Gardens.

The talk will also look at the latest developments including a project recruiting volunteers to help Historic England, Enriching The List.

Tickets for this event, which runs from 7.15pm on 17 January, are available from the ground floor Help Desk at Swindon Central Library or any other Swindon Borough Council library at £1.50 for Library members and £2.50 for non-members.
