20 “artistic” gymnasts have received medals after they represented The Swindon School of Gymnastics in Melksham during the Wiltshire Teams Championships.

Five Other Clubs from around the County competed and the three highest scores on each of the four pieces of apparatus from each team counted.

All 20 SSG gymnasts performed superbly and coincidently came home with a medal to the delight of their coaches. Lauren Cordingley said: “I am so proud of them all and the Club is really going places with these talented young ladies.

In the morning the Under 9’s Level 6 category consisted of Hettie Truman, Annabelle Wallace, Isla McCalla, Amelia King and Jessica Reynolds who made their debut in the competition.

They were shocked but delighted as they were announced as the champions and collected a gold medal each.

Isla McCalla had a special mention as she won the whole category with a very impressive 44.150 marks, which included the highest score on both the balance beam and bars.

Also in the morning was the Over 13’s Level 4 category which consisted of Lauren Evans, Jessica Lomas, Shannon White, Millie Swift and Samantha Young.

They also came top and were placed the winners and were presented with their gold medals.

Shannon White was the top gymnast with 44.550 marks.

The afternoon was the Level 5’s turn. In the Under 11 section were Mille White Ellie Bell, Maisie Slattery, Amelia Simpson and Shannon Reynolds.

Rounding up the day were the Level 5’s Under 13’s category which consisted of  Annabelle Bath, Teegan Seed Daniella Reynolds Francesca Webster and Izzy Moran.

Teegan Seed was very brave but competed on 2 pieces as she had 2 broken fingers. Francesca Webster went clean and was SSG top scorer with 43.850 and would have come 4th overall behind the team gymnasts from Melksham.

Daniella Reynolds had the top floor score for SSG and would have come 5th overall and was chuffed to top all the competitors from Esprit GC.

Most of these girls will travel to the Forest of Dean this weekend (16 - 18 June) to compete against four other Clubs from around the Region in the West Country League.
