A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after a concerned member of the public called police.

Officers were called to Rushey Platt, in Swindon, shortly before 10pm last night (22 April 2018) by a resident who reported a suspicious vehicle possibly linked to drug dealing.

Police arrived at 10.04pm and when officers approached the vehicle, a man ran off down the nearby canal towpath.

Officers gave chase on foot and found a man hiding in bushes. They searched the man and seized three mobile phones and a quantity of bank notes.

They also recovered a package on the footpath which contained what is believed to be Class A drugs.

A 20-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Anyone who is concerned about drug activity in their area should call police on 101 to report it
