Isabard student Olivia Dowman will be taking to the ice for Children in Need. The twelve-year-old from Oakhurst will perform live in front of the BBC cameras at Bristol Ice Rink with fellow skaters from Swindon Ice Figure Club.

Olivia started skating four years ago with her friend and neighbour, Lauren, and took to the sport straight away. She has passed all her levels from 1 to 10 in the Skate UK Basic Skills Programme as well as her Bronze, Silver and Gold. She has now embarked on her National Ice Skating Association (NISA) levels. She is currently working hard for a Christmas gala that will involve beautiful costumes and even some singing on the ice!

Olivia said: “We rehearse on a Tuesday and yesterday's run through went really well. There is always lots of pressure with time but everyone works hard to get the routines right.”

She is looking forward to taking part in the charity event and added, “If you want to try something new, skating is the way to go. It's a really lovely experience. It's the best.”
