The Rotary Club of Swindon North hold annual splash for cash charity event

Did you know that for anyone who loves swimming there’s a readymade event to raise funds for their favourite charity?

The Rotary Club of Swindon North’s Charity Swimathon is held annually and the next one is in Swindon’s Link Centre on Sunday 22 April starting at 1pm. Swindon Link and Better (The Link Centre) are supporting the event. Anyone aged 8 to 80 and able to swim, no matter what standard, can enter. There are no prizes for finishing first or for swimming the most lengths. It’s a fun event with the overall aim of raising lots of cash for charity. The 2018 Swimathon and the associated Grand Draw will principally be raising funds for the Wiltshire-based charity Inner Flame. Inner Flame is an award-winning charity which inspires young people to achieve their full potential. But Swimathon participants can raise funds for any other charity by entering as a team.  Teams can be made up of friends, family, colleagues, in fact any group with a shared aim.  4 to 8 members is ideal, people who are prepared to swim in relay for an hour and hopefully collect at least £25 sponsorship on themselves. The money will go on a 50/50 basis to Inner Flame and to the team’s charity. Rotary Club member Ken Winslow explained: “Anyone who has ever organised a fund-raising event will know it’s hard work.  Simply enter a team in our Swimathon and let us cope with the organisation. "We’ll give every swimmer a medal and a certificate to confirm how many lengths they’ve completed and if they use our internet facility they can collect their sponsorship online.
