Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and a woman were assaulted in their own home in Park South, Swindon.
The incident happened at an address on Midhurst Avenue around 10pm on Wednesday 30 August.
The woman of the house opened the door to two unknown males, who asked where Tom was, when she replied there was no Tom living there, they barged past her and began assaulting her husband, who was in the living room.
The victim managed to fight off the men, who were punching him, and then they fled from the property. Both victims are being supported, and were very shaken after receiving cuts and bruises to their faces.
The men are described as both being white, wearing dark hooded tops and trousers; one was in his late 20s, around 5' 6" tall, slim, skinny face with a stubble/goatee beard. The other was in his late teens/early 20s.
Det Insp Paul Hacker said: "This was a particularly traumatic and violent experience for both husband and wife.
“I am seeking the public’s help to find these two men who appeared to be after a man called Tom, a name not known to this couple.
“Anyone who knows two men matching the descriptions or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in this area around this time is asked to call us on 101.
"We are increasing extra police patrols in this area to reassure the public that we are doing everything to try and find these men; however, I also want to reiterate to everyone that incidents like this, although frightening, are extremely rare."
If you have any information that can help with enquiries, please contact the police on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
