Swindon CID are urgently appealing for a key witness to an incident in the town last night to come forward.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident which occurred outside of Culvery Court, Harding Street, at approximately 8.30pm on Monday 24 February.

A man aged in his 40s was attacked by the driver of a vehicle.  He sustained injuries to his hands, face and head.

A man aged in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted GBH and remains in custody at Gablecross.

A man who was driving along the road at the time stopped his vehicle and came to the aid of the victim as he was lying on the ground and we need to speak to him as soon as possible so the investigation can progress.

Det Sgt Scott Anger said: “This man helpfully intervened and his actions no doubt helped prevent the victim suffering more serious injuries.

“Unfortunately, this man had left the scene when police arrived so we would urge him to come forward and contact us on 101 as he may have important information, or dash cam footage which could assist us further.”

If this was you, please call 101 and quote crime reference number 54200019533.
