Staff in Swindon Borough Council’s safeguarding team took charge of a special delivery with just days before Christmas.

Waitrose in Marlborough donated 20 hampers to the Council’s Children’s Services department, which will be distributed to families in need within the Swindon area.

The hampers contain a mixture of essential food and other household items as well as some festive treats for all the family.

Councillor Mary Martin, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, said: “I would like to thank Waitrose for the very generous donation at this special time of year.

“For some of the families we support, Christmas is often a time where they struggle to make ends meet, so I am sure the hampers will be very much appreciated by all who receive them.

“I would also like to thank our team of dedicated social workers who will be working throughout the festive period and who will personally deliver the hampers on our behalf. I wish them and all the Waitrose staff a very happy Christmas.”
