The singing schoolchildren of Milbrook Primary School, Freshbrook will be helping to raise more than just Christmas joy at a festive indoor market.
The youngsters will be performing at Freshbrook Evangelical Church’s seventh annual indoor Christmas Market on Saturday 26 November, 3pm to 6pm, in aid of the town’s homeless and vulnerable community via Swindon Night Shelter.
Among the festive treats in store are carol singing, hot food, live music, crafts for children, puppet shows, and plenty of opportunities to buy Christmas gifts, including jewellery and art.
Ray Cheung, an elder at the church who is helping to run the event, said: “We're really excited about the festive market this year as we hope it will be a really good community event, as well as a shopping experience, to get everyone in the festive spirit.
“And, of course, underlying all this, we hope to raise money for those in our community for whom Christmas is a particularly bleak and troubling time.”
The market raises money for charities each year and in 2015 raised funds for Swindon Women’s Aid.
