Wiltshire Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted burglary at a house in Barra Close, Highworth on Wednesday 1 March 2017 between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Unknown suspects entered the property before being disturbed by dogs barking at the address - the offenders then ran out of the back door.
However, the suspects returned approximately 10 minutes later before being chased off by the householder - they jumped over the back fence into the nearby fields. Its believed they then headed back to the main road towards nearby housing estates.
Fortunately they left empty handed due to the householder becoming aware of their presence.
PC Chris Hughes said: "These individuals were in the area for some time afterwards so it's likely they would have been noticeable in this quiet street. "Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in this area around this time?
"We are particularly keen to speak with a female passer-by who was out walking three dogs at the time; she spoke with the householder immediately after the incident and it's believed she saw the suspects leaving.
"These offenders are looking for unlocked doors to enter and are very brazen in trying to burgle addresses in residential streets in the middle of the afternoon; therefore, please check all of your doors and windows are locked, even when you are in the house, in order to reduce this type of acquisitive crime."
