Kingsbury Green Academy hosted a multi-school dance show on Tuesday evening (28/04).

Dance students from schools across the Ascend Learning Trust took part in a two-hour show in front of a packed audience, held in the main hall at Kingsbury Green Academy. The show also included pupils from visiting primary schools.

Each group danced to songs and tunes they had chosen and rehearsed to – many from the big West End shows including, The Greatest Showman, Hamilton and a country/line dancing mash-up.

Alice Mitchell, Head of Expressive Arts at Kingsbury Green Academy who organised the show, said: “It was such a great evening, showcasing the best dancing talents across the schools in our trust. Everyone worked so hard weeks before the event, planning their choreography, rehearsing and perfecting their routines.”

Five local primary schools were invited with several of their pupils attending. They included Cherhill C of E Primary, Marden Vale CE Academy, Priestly Primary, Fynamore Primary, and Holy Trinity Church of England Academy.

Nicola Bull, Head Teacher of Kingsbury Green Academy, said: “It was also so lovely to welcome several visiting primary schools from our area who also performed so well. It important for us to work together with local schools to share ideas and showcase collectively our pupils’ talents and abilities.

“The fact that it was a sell-out is testament to the quality of the dances and students’ professionalism.”

Proceeds of the show will go to Springboard, the special needs school in Chippenham.

Jane Coley, CEO of Ascend, said: “Ascend Learning Trust is about inclusivity and belonging and this show reflected that. Everyone coming together under one roof, giving their all to produce what was a very special, sparkly and joyous show.

“I want to thank everyone – parents, family members, friends and carers - who came along to support us, the whole dance show, and Springboard – a well deserving cause. Without an audience we wouldn’t have had a show.”
