Sharron Long, a 61 year old grandmother from Abbey Meads, Swindon will be cycling 22 kilometres for 22 consecutive days to raise money for The Lobular Moonshot Project and Lobular Cancer UK.
Sharron was diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer in August 2025.
She said: “I quickly came to learn that there is no targeted treatment for this disease and we are given the 'standard' treatment in the hope it will work but it doesn't always.
"Women are dying every year of this disease because the treatments haven't worked.”
Sharron is keen to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer especially Lobular Cancer. She told us: “Women need to be aware of any changes in their breasts as often mammograms and scans do not always detect this type of breast cancer which is often referred to as 'the sneaky one'.”
Sharron took part in the silent vigils that took place in April in Westminster, London, to try and lobby Government to fund the research needed.
Starting on 1 August and finishing on 22 August, Sharron will cycle 22 kilometres every day for 22 consecutive days, which equates to one kilometre cycled for each woman diagnosed each day. On the last day she will be joined by 21 friends and family so 22 of cross the finish line together.
To prepare for this challenge Sharron is taking part in the 0-100km challenge from Moredon Sporting Hub with British Cycling. Sharron said: “They have been a brilliant support, this weekend we are cycling 63 kms!”
