If you need financial help or advice, residents are being invited to visit the Financial Wellbeing team at one of their July drop-in sessions across Swindon.
Reaching State Pension age left Lesley facing a financial cliff edge when her Universal Credit stopped. Living alone after the loss of her partner, she struggled to cope on a small pension and mounting bills.
After a referral from the council’s Live Well team, Citizens Advice Swindon identified more than £14,000 a year in potential additional support, including Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit. Advisers also helped her complete applications and access bereavement support.
There are drop-ins at the following times:
- Tuesday, 14 July at John Moulton Hall, Penhill Drive (SN2 5DU) from 1pm to 2.30pm
- Wednesday, 15 July at Growbaby, Pattern Church, Penzance Drive (SN5 7JL) from 9.30am to 11am
- Friday, 17 July at Wroughton Library, Barrett Way (SN4 9LW) from 9.30am to 11.30am
- Saturday, 18 July at Stratton Festival (SN3 4JY) from 12pm to 4pm
- Monday, 20 July at North Swindon Library (SN25 4AN) from 2pm to 4pm
