Traffic lights on Thamesdown Drive were out of action this morning due to a power cut which also affected a number of homes as well as the North Swindon Branch of McDonald’s.

According to Scottish and Southern Electricity, the problems were caused by an underground network fault in Brean Road and affected 52 households.

Engineers are currently working on the problem and are hoping to restore power by 11.30am.

A spokesperson for SSEN said: "Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) was alerted to a power cut in Brean Road this morning following a cable fault. 52 customers are currently affected. Engineers are on site to fix the fault with an expected restoration time of 11.30am today.

“SSEN apologises for any inconvenience caused by the power cut and thanks its customers for their patience while our engineers work to safely restore their supply."
