Months of hard work have paid off for Swindon & Wiltshire Pride as they set a date for this year's LGBTQ+ festival.

Thanks to a £10k grant from The National Lottery, all the colours of the rainbow will be parading through Swindon this year as Swindon & Wiltshire Pride confirm the return of its LGBTQ+ festival.

Kicking off at Town Gardens at 11am, the parade will march through Old Town 10 August. This year the organisation will be showcasing local talent on a newly introduced community stage, as well as host a family, craft and shopping zone.

John Edwards, Grants manager, said: “I want to thank the National Lottery for supporting Swindon & Wiltshire Pride. This gives so much excitement knowing that others can see how much this means to us and the community.

"We, as a committee, are so proud to be part of Swindon & Wiltshire Pride and it could not happen without the huge levels of support from the community and the National Lottery, and I cannot wait for the event this year”.

Chairman Kristian Wheeler added: “We used our year off to work more closely with the community and undertook several projects with the support of local businesses, including the installation of Rainbow Walk at The Wyvern Theatre.

"An important part as a committee is preventing social isolation. We do this by bringing the community together at our monthly fundraisers as well as our main Pride event, this is an extremely important part of what we do.”
