Barratt David Wilson Homes South West is encouraging key workers across Wiltshire to take advantage of its Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme.

The company, whose developments include properties at Wichelstowe in Swindon, is highlighting the scheme, which aims to make home ownership more accessible for those in essential roles, as the UK prepares to mark Key Worker Day on 5 July.
The initiative - designed to ease the financial barriers often faced by NHS staff, teachers, emergency service personnel, armed forces members and other public sector workers - has already helped hundreds of key workers across the South West buy a new home.
One such buyer is Ella Oakey, a specialist continence nurse, who has recently been able to buy a three bedroom home.
She said: “This scheme has allowed my partner and me to buy a house much sooner than we expected. It also meant we could use our savings for extras and furnishing our home.
"We’re extremely grateful for the financial support - it has made such a difference and without it, I'm not sure when we would have been able to buy."
The Key Worker Deposit Contribution Scheme offers a £1000 contribution for every £20,000 spent on the purchase price, up to a maximum of £15,000. This can be used alongside other support such as part exchange and expert mortgage guidance.
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, continued: “We recognise the invaluable contribution key workers make every day in our communities, especially here in Wiltshire.
"This scheme is our way of saying thank you and to make it easier for them to take their next step on the property ladder.”
The scheme is available to a wide range of professions, including those working in:
- NHS;
- Education
- Police
- Fire Service
- Ministry of Defence
- Environmental Service
- National Highways, Transport Scotland & Transport for Wales
- Probation Service
- Local authority
- Prison Service
- Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI)
- Foster Care
The Wichelstowe development is a joint project by Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Swindon Borough Council to create a vibrant community in Swindon. When complete, it will provide much-needed homes alongside schools, community facilities, and open spaces.
Barratt David Wilson Homes South West is building at Buckley Gardens in Melksham and will soon launch Honeymans Helm near Highworth town centre.
Barratt Homes Bristol has recently opened its Platinum Place development in Hilperton.
