An Apology to Toothill Residents
ear Residents,
wish to apologize for the sensational article which appeared on the front page
f the Evening Advertiser on Friday 20th August. Not only has the item damaged
he reputation of Toothill, but it also damaged my reputation as a responsible,
aring Borough Councillor.
uring the Housing meeting (to which the article referred) I was trying to
upport the concern of a fellow Councillor about solvent abuse with an illustra-
ion which the paper used without checking the facts. I understand that current-
y there is no particular problem in the Toothill area and that your local
olice, Councillors, Community Development Officer, Governors and staff of the
chools have been treating the matter in a responsible manner.
Yours most sincerely,
Councillor (Mrs.) Lynn Hawkins
FAREWELLtio JACKIE RAFFERTY
This is possibly a new use for the Link, but I would like to take this chance of saying
THANK YOU to all the people I have worked with in Toothill, Freshbrook and Westlea.
For the last three and a half years I have been employed by Thamesdown Borough Council as the
Arrivals Officer/Community Worker for the Western Expansion Area. I am now leaving the
Borough Council to join Thamesdown Voluntary Service Centre as their Development Worker.
I have enjoyed my time working with you and as well as having learnt a tremendous amount,
hopefully I have been able to contribute in creating the community spirit that is evident in
the area. Good luck to all the groups I have been involved with and o nce again Thank you.
